China passes law against foreign sanctions
BEIJING: The Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress (NPC) today passed a law against foreign sanctions.
This means that China should fight more systematically, fully and vigorously through national legislation against the expansionist actions of some Western countries forcibly interfering in China’s internal affairs and imposing so-called “sanctions”. In order to protect the dignity and fundamental interests of the country.
In this regard, Hu Jinsong, a professor at the School of International Law at the University of Political Science and Law of the University of China, believes that in contrast to the long-range jurisdiction and unjustified sanctions against other US countries, China’s foreign sanctions laws There is retaliation against the supremacy and in accordance with the principle of equality and justice in international law.
In addition, “our legislative process is aimed at protecting the country’s sovereignty, security and fundamental interests, non-interference in internal affairs and sovereignty in international law, defending the principles of equality, and opposing the politics of power.” ۔ Therefore, our legislation is in direct violation of Western sanctions against our country. Our legislation is in accordance with international law and is legitimate, ”the professor explained.
Will the enactment of a law against foreign sanctions affect China’s business environment? Li Qingming, an associate researcher at the Institute of International Law at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, said such concerns were “absolutely unnecessary” because there would be no change in China’s openness policy and it would allow businesses to operate legally. Institutions and the general public will not be affected.
“We will promote the liberalization and facilitation of trade and investment, protect the legitimate rights and interests of foreign-invested businesses in accordance with the law, and continue to create an international business environment in the light of the law.” We will keep it, ”said Li Qingming.
