Crackdown on freelancers and online businesses
KARACHI: The Federal Bureau of Revenue (FBR) has decided to crack down on freelancers and online product sellers.
Sources said that the FBR Commissioner of Noise Tax and the Director General of International Taxes have jointly launched an investigation in this regard. FBR officials have revealed that those selling goods and services abroad are not paying taxes.
According to officials, the American company Payoneer has made large payments in Pakistan. During the preliminary investigation, it has been pointed out that the said American company has paid Rs 60 billion to 75615 people, therefore, 45012 people who receive money from this American company are taxed.
