I hope Pakistan will play its role for peace in Afghanistan, US said
New Delhi: US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has expressed hope that Pakistan will play its role in bringing peace to neighboring Afghanistan.
According to the international news agency, US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that a peaceful Afghanistan is also beneficial for Pakistan. It is hoped that Pakistan will play its part in reducing violence and civil war in Afghanistan.
Secretary of State Anthony Blankenship also expressed hope that Pakistan still had an effective influence on the Afghan Taliban and would play a key role in persuading the Taliban to ceasefire and negotiate.
US Secretary of State Anthony expressed these views in an interview with Indian media during his two-day visit to India.
Earlier, Zaid Tarar, the Urdu spokesman of the US State Department, had also said that Afghanistan’s neighboring countries should not help terrorists for peace. He also spoke to India in this regard.
Zaid Tarar further said that Pakistan’s role is very important for peace in Afghanistan. The United States is in contact with all of Afghanistan’s neighbors.
It should be noted that these statements from the US State Department have come to light while National Security Adviser Moeed Yousaf and Director General ISI Lieutenant General Faiz Hameed are on a visit to the United States.
