Slight decline in inflation in the country
ISLAMABAD: Inflation in the country has declined marginally, according to the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
According to the statistics agency, the inflation rate in the country was 5.7 per cent in January 2021 and 8 per cent in December 2020, while the inflation rate in July-January was 8.19 per cent. On a monthly basis, the inflation rate declined to 0.2 per cent.
According to a report by the Bureau of Statistics, sugar became 14.76 per cent more expensive in January, followed by wheat at 8.17 per cent, ghee at 6.06 per cent and milk at 2.46 per cent on a monthly basis.
According to the report, prices of sugar, mustard oil, wheat, ghee, cooking oil, milk, lentils and fruits also rose on a monthly basis.
On a monthly basis, potatoes became cheaper by 33.57 per cent, tomatoes by 30.03 per cent, chicken by 28.48 per cent, onions by 24.87 per cent, eggs by 15.39 per cent and vegetables by 10.14 per cent.
