Small business women lose the attention of banks
The SBP launched a loan guarantee scheme for businesswomen in August 2017. The scheme was aimed at encouraging business women to go further in their small business. Initially, the value of the loan was Rs 1.5 million, which was increased to Rs 5 million three years later.

In the credit guarantee scheme, the SBP assures the commercial banks that the central bank will largely compensate them in case of losses incurred on lending to the target lenders. However, more needs to be done to promote small and medium-sized businesses run by women and gender sensitive.
