The inaction on the Palestinian issue is damaging the credibility of the United Nations, the President of the General Assembly
ISLAMABAD: President of the United Nations General Assembly Volkin Bozkar has said that inaction on the important issue of Palestine is damaging the credibility of the United Nations and the Security Council.
In a historic speech at the National Defense University Islamabad, UN General Assembly President Vulcan Bozkar said that the Corona epidemic had created major social, political and economic problems in the world, which could only be solved through a joint strategy. Under these circumstances, it was a great challenge to keep the member countries together. Corona vaccine is equally needed by rich and poor countries. I pay tribute to the Pakistani government for what it has done to curb the corona epidemic. Whether the situation in Pakistan was still relatively good, the steps taken by the Pakistani government are yielding encouraging results, I am happy that Pakistan is working effectively to reduce the number of patients and save lives.
Appreciating Pakistan’s role in the Palestine, Kashmir, Afghanistan, Code 19 and UN peacekeeping mission, President Vulcan Bozkar said that the UN General Assembly convened a meeting last week on the situation in Palestine to resolve the Security Council’s silence and deadlock. To address this, inaction on this important issue is damaging the credibility of the United Nations and the Security Council. I hope that the Security Council will also hear a unanimous voice on this important and necessary issue.
The President of the General Assembly said that hundreds of Palestinians, including women and children, have lost their lives as a result of blatant violations of human rights and international law. I pay tribute to Pakistani Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi who He took the time to meet and expressed strong support for Palestinian rights.
Volkan Bozkar said there was an urgent need for talks to end the Israeli occupation and establish two independent states, living in peace and on the pre-1967 borders, with Jerusalem as their capital. I assure you that the UN General Assembly will not sit idly by until peace is restored in the Middle East.
The President of the General Assembly said that he is well aware of the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, I understand what an ordinary Pakistani would feel about Kashmir when his feelings towards Palestine are so strong, in South Asia. Peace, stability and prosperity depend on the restoration of Pakistan-India relations, for which it is necessary to find a solution to the Kashmir dispute.
The President of the General Assembly said that in the light of the UN resolution, I have always urged the parties not to change the ground realities, to avoid changing the status of the disputed area, the Kashmir dispute is as old as As the President of the General Assembly, I urge India and Pakistan to work for a peaceful solution to this problem.
Volkan Bozkar added that restoration of peace in Afghanistan is also urgently needed, Pakistan has sheltered millions of Afghan refugees, Pakistan has borne the burden of Afghan refugees for 40 years despite significant support from the international community. I pay tribute to the Pakistanis who sheltered the Afghan community in their hour of need. Pakistan and Afghanistan cannot be separated. Peace in Afghanistan is essential for peace and regional development in Pakistan. I commend the leadership that has played a positive role in restoring peace and resolving the issue in Afghanistan.
